Questions to ask before hiring your photographer

We’ve said it here before at Sydney Rose Portraits at least a dozen times: when you hire a photographer, you don’t just hire someone holding a camera. You hire someone to be present for the biggest moments of your life. As a photographer, I understand the importance of my job, and feel it’s important that all potential clients understand the importance as well, so here are the key things to ask before hiring your photographer.

Don’t just take my word for it!

Sydney Rose is so much more than a photographer. Beginning at our initial consultation she worked hard to connect with me and get in my head to really grasp my vision. She cares about feeling a kinship with her clients, and making sure she’s the right fit for you.

During the wedding she was always checking in with me - not just about photography, but also making sure I got drink refills or offering to grab me things from the bridal suite. It was a really comforting feeling knowing she takes such an all encompassing approach to her role at the wedding. She really is your bestie during the wedding!!

And, of course, she created a gorgeous and priceless photography portfolio for us. Couldn’t recommend more.

Hey lovers,

I tried a lot of different forms of art before finding photography. It started simply, photographing the things that made me happy, and eventually shifted toward people. I’ve always been drawn to old photographs, handwritten postcards, and home movies, the quiet proof that someone was here and mattered.

Photography is less about preserving moments in perfect condition and more about conserving them, creating images that can be returned to, lived with, and learned from over time. I believe photographing people is a way to remember and to be remembered, and that the most meaningful images are the ones that grow with you as life unfolds.
