Grand Holland Estate Summer Wedding in Greenville, SC
Amy and Greg
An elegant and artsy "I do"
A little bit about them
Amy and Greg are so... them. And that’s what I love so much about them. They are the most happy go-lucky, sweet, never hurt a soul, in love couple that doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.
What we did:
The Agres put so many fun personal touches on their day, and I especially appreciated how they incorporated their cats into the wedding, with feline friends appearing on a dish we used in the flat lay shots. These two were also Clemson grads, so of course, we included their Clemson rings in the details.
The bride got ready with her girls, and her bridesmaids were the ones who did her hair and finished her makeup. Her mom shared some sweet moments with her, helping her get into her dress. Amy found her dress at Silk and Satin bride, a small bridal boutique in Greenville that has off the rack options, as well as the option to order and personalize your dream dress! Dresses rarely fit right off the rack, and Amy had her alterations done by Befitted Tailoring Co.
We followed up the glam with some touching first looks. The bride and her dad shared a sweet embrace, and exchanged some gifts, and then it was time for the groom to see her. The Agres chose to have their first look on the porch. The Grand Holland has the most *stunning* porch that exudes Southern elegance and charm, and watching these two see each other at the beginning of the rest of their lives together was the sweetest moment. They then exchanged their private vows outside.
These two had their ceremony on the Grand Staircase, one of the many ceremony spaces offered by the Grand Holland Estate. The bride and groom were surrounded by loved ones, and also by the most stunning floral arrangements by ONBB Design, and the lovely Jose Diaz of Great Expectations officiated for them. Two of the best parts of this vendor team, in this photographer’s opinion, were the Coordinator/DJ couple, Audiografs (which I cannot recommend enough), and the food by the venue. This couple had amazing chicken and greens with plenty of options for every palette in attendance! The Agres also had the most delicious cake done by Kathy and Company
After the ceremony and later into the evening, we took some of the most epic couples photos in one of my favorite venue features: the bathtub. Having a South Carolina wedding in the heat of summer led to us trying to take as many couples photos inside the venue as possible, so I suggested we hop in the bathtub, and told the newlyweds that they could bring their drinks with them.
What they said:
“We would without a doubt or second thought choose Sydney again to capture our wedding day. Not only did she capture beautiful pictures and memories of our perfect day, she made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and like we were working with a friend.
We were looking for someone with a great artistic vision but also someone with great organization skills. Sydney of course took amazing shots, but she also helped keep the day organized and really efficiently captured photos to keep the party moving along. Sydney overall just had everything together and made us feel confident in her abilities to capture beautiful photos and be a helping hand in moving the schedule along day-of.
My favorite wedding memory (which resulted in one of my favorite film shots) was eating appetizers alone with my (new) husband and having a quiet moment to ourselves. We were catching up and giggling after all the anxiety of the ceremony washed away. I feel Sydney perfectly captured our essence in snapping a quick shot of us together.”
Notes from Sydney:
This wedding was so. much. fun. And it was because this couple has so much heart and put so much of themselves into it.
Everything has a personal touch on it, from their party favors to how they chose to party. Some things that stuck out to me in particular were the temporary tattoo station and the location.
The tattoos were of their cats, which is amazing already, but everyone was using them (even grandparents) and giving neck tattoos and going all out with cat temp tattoos lol. The location was beautiful and had so many little areas to switch up for each little part of the day. And! It doubled as a place for the couple to stay the night. It was such a unique building that thought of everything that a wedding venue would need.
