Intimate Pawley's Island, SC Micro Wedding - Destination Wedding Photography
Tiffany and Alec
Intimate, beachy-chic destination Pawleys Island micro-wedding
A little bit about them:
These high school sweethearts have been making mischief together since they were teens, and their coastal celebration was the culmination of nearly a decade of joyful memories together.
What we did:
Their small guest list meant that Alec and Tiffany really had a deep connection to each person they invited, and they wanted to ensure they had time with all their loved ones. This meant taking a more fly-on-the-wall, documentary approach to capture all the warm hugs and lovely interactions between big, scheduled moments. When choosing their photographer, intimacy was key. They were interested in finding a photographer with experience capturing all the special detailed moments that take place during a wedding celebration.
Tiffany and Alec’s vision for their day was relaxed and romantic, so when it rained for the whole morning, we didn’t sweat it. We changed up some of their timeline as necessary, and found shelter around for the wedding party photos.
The location of Pawley’s Island was also special to this sweet couple, so we used the surrounding natural beauty to make sure their photos were rooted in a sense of place. We arranged their details on a driftwood table outside the condo where they got ready, incorporating shells and sand dollars alongside Tiffany’s pearls to emphasize the neutral, beachy tones.
During cocktail hour, we snagged the newlyweds for some quick couples portraits, but not too long so that they missed out on the fun with their loved ones. We let the surrounding golf courses — ones Alec played on — and nature be the backdrop for some epic sunset photos, and then danced the night away.
What they said:
“If we could relive our wedding day, we would choose Sydney every time. Sydney was the most gracious and professional person to capture our wedding day. Sydney went above and beyond to make our wedding day photography everything we envisioned, plus more!
A favorite moment Sydney captured was of me and my Grandfather laughing and hugging. My grandfather turned 90 this year — a retired US Naval Commander and one of my biggest inspirations in life. Him traveling from Florida to South Carolina and taking part in our wedding day meant so much to us.
When I showed my Grandfather the picture Sydney captured of us, he said “when I look at myself in this photo, I see my father.” That is special. It is a moment captured, unlocking generations of emotion. My Grandfather has been the rock of my family his entire life. I will forever cherish the special moment I shared with my grandfather on our wedding day. Thanks to Sydney, I have photography to show for it.”
A Note from Tiffany:
“If we could tell a newly engaged couple one thing, it would be to simply ~enjoy each other~ enjoy everything you’ve accomplished together, leading up to your big day, and after. Teamwork makes the dream work! Enjoy that partnership you have in each other, and let it grow!”
“One thing we were surprised to find out after choosing Sydney for our wedding day photography was that she also partakes in sports photography. Once learning that Sydney can get down with some football helmets cracking, we knew we didn’t go wrong! She’s creative AND versatile! What more could we ask for?!”
Notes from Sydney:
One of my favorite things about this day, besides this adorable couple’s love, was the incredible team of vendors behind the planning, venue, and more.
The ceremony and reception took place at the Debordieu Clubhouse on Pawley’s Island. The staff there provided an incredible venue and took great care of our bride and groom. And may I say that their stuffed chicken breast for dinner and suprise pretzel late night snack were top tier!
Tiffany’s attire was from Posh Bridal over in Pennsylvania; and to complete the look, their hair and makeup artist, Beautifully Wed, did a phenomenal job! The rings by Colonial Jewelers in Maryland were also incredibly special for this couple.
The florist, Ms. Mary’s Creative Designs, created the most beautiful, unique, and on-theme floral arrangements, sticking to a coastal palette so that her beautiful florals blended seamlessly and naturally with the surrounding marsh scenery. She even incorporated sweetgrass baskets to add a touch of the area’s history.
The planner, Stunning and Brilliant Events, ran the whole day in the most epic way. S&B made sure we were running on time, but never rushed. Tiffany and Alec had plenty of time for those special unplanned moments, and didn’t miss a thing thanks to this team of women. Stunning and Brilliants Events made sure we knew what was happening, and what was planned next, at every moment, and not a single thing slipped on their watch. I truly can’t say enough amazing things about this team, and I’m so grateful they had our backs.
